CAPTURING JEWISH ART AND INTERIOR DESIGN
FOR YOUR HOME, SYNAGOGUE AND INSTITUTIONS
TO PRESERVE A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES

Pickles

At the end of the first decade of the 20th century, the Lower East Side, NY, Marshall Street, Philadelphia, and portions of South Jersey, boasted the influx of many Jewish Immigrants. Along with thriving delicatessens, journalists, union men, farmers, workers and artists, anyone looking for an escape from the drudgery could argue, kibitz, debate and discuss the day's events over steaming tea, lemon, or slice of cake. Carbonated water is another Jewish Success story called "East Side Champagne" which started in 1880 by two seltzer producers.  Goodman's Noodles, Barton's Candy, Rokeach, Hebrew national Hot Dogs, Nathan's, Shapiro Wine, Horowitz Matzoh, Bialys and GUSS'S PICKLES made their presence known. But the Jewish Bagel conquered the world.  This image is one of four commissioned canvases to be presented to the SEASHORE GARDENS LIVING CENTER in Absecon, New Jersey.
